Yuree Kensaku

Yuree Kensaku (b. 1979, Thailand) is a Thai-Japanese contemporary artist celebrated for her vibrant, emotionally resonant works that blend playful pop aesthetics with deep social and political reflection. A graduate of the School of Fine and Applied Arts, Bangkok University, Kensaku works across painting, murals, sculpture, animation, design, music, and performance, often infusing her pieces with surreal, cartoon-like imagery and sharp undercurrents of humor and critique.

Her practice explores issues such as environmental degradation, consumerism, and equality, while also reflecting her bicultural heritage through a unique mix of Thai symbolism and Japanese pop culture. Known for her kind, empathetic nature and meticulous attention to detail, Kensaku’s work invites audiences into layered, imaginative worlds that are as thoughtful as they are visually engaging.

She has exhibited widely in Thailand and abroad, including in major biennales and triennials, establishing herself as a distinctive and influential voice in contemporary art.

- Her pop iconography presents a surreal world through vibrant colors on various appropriated surfaces.-
